Notification Channels

Where alerts go (Email, Webhooks, Slack, SMS) and how to test delivery.

What are channels?

Channels are where Blind Spot delivers alerts for incidents and recoveries. You can connect one or more channels and then route alerts per monitor and severity.

Available channel types

Email (all plans)

Best for teams and shared inboxes. Add one or more recipients and you’ll receive incident and recovery alerts.

Webhooks (all plans)

Send alerts to your own endpoint or an automation tool (for example, Make/Zapier) to trigger playbooks like creating tickets or paging on-call.

Slack (Pro)

Send alerts to a Slack channel so your team can react quickly and collaborate in-thread.

SMS (Pro)

Best for urgent, high-signal notifications (typically CRITICAL). Use international phone format with a leading + and country code.

Best practice: route by severity

Route CRITICAL/HIGH to fast channels (SMS/Slack) and keep MEDIUM/LOW on async channels (Email/Webhooks) to reduce noise.

Test delivery

Use Settings → Send Test Alert to exercise delivery. A Fire Drill is successful only when at least one eligible provider accepts the message; having a channel record by itself is not treated as working. The MVP activation checklist specifically requires a successful email result. Provider acceptance does not guarantee inbox placement, so confirm the first Fire Drill in the destination inbox.

Plan notes

  • Free: 1 channel (Email or Webhook) and check intervals of 15 minutes or longer.
  • Pro: multiple channels, Slack + SMS, quiet hours, escalation, and checks as fast as every 60 seconds.
